Impact

MCAEL’s efforts create lasting results for both learners and Montgomery County residents, businesses and schools.

Communities across the United States are being reshaped by demographic change. ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) instruction has been shown to have a positive impact on individuals, families, and the larger community which includes both immigrants and long-time residents. Through Capacity Building and Public Engagement the MCAEL network is able to support instructors and learners to create strong communities.

How We Meet the Need

In Montgomery County the need for English language learning opportunities is great.

Approximately 35% (350,000) of the household population (ages 5 and older) speak a language other than English. These reports give an overview of the landscape of ESOL in the county and how the coalition of providers is meeting the need.
