Topics in Program Administration (TPA) Meeting: Using Plain Language to Strengthen Outreach and Communication
Clear communication is essential for reaching and engaging adult learners. In this TPA meeting, program administrators will explore how to apply plain language principles to outreach and program materials, including recruitment flyers, health and legal information, and other student-facing communications.

In partnership with the Horowitz Center for Health Literacy, this interactive session will highlight how plain language can help programs connect with a broader audience, improve accessibility, and support more effective translation of materials.

Participants will engage in peer discussion and hands-on practice, with the opportunity to review and revise their own outreach materials through a plain language lens. Attendees are encouraged to bring a sample (such as a flyer or announcement) to evaluate and strengthen during the session.

Program administrators are also encouraged to invite staff or colleagues who create outreach materials to join the session.
