Job Overview

The Briggs Center for Faith & Action welcomes, supports, provides services for, and advocates on behalf of immigrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers. Briggs provides free English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes at all levels; low-cost or no-cost immigration legal services through the Harvey Immigration Services Clinic; and other holistic support for individuals, families, and communities who are new to the United States.

The Briggs Center for Faith & Action seeks a motivated, organized, compassionate person to serve in the role of Program Director for the ESOL program.

There are currently 250 adult learners enrolled and approximately 20 volunteer teachers in the ESOL program.

Program Director responsibilities include:
• Recruit learners by promoting classes to potential student populations.
• Register and place learners in appropriate class.
• Recruit, train, and support volunteer instructors.
• Create and maintain calendar of classes.
• Coordinate online (Zoom) and in-person classroom space.
• Be familiar with best practices for ESOL learning.
• Evaluate and improve program as needed.
• Work with partner organizations.
• Maintain regular and collegial communication with other Briggs staffers.
• Oversee ESOL grant applications.

Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree.
• Fluency in the English language.
• Digital literacy; cultural competency.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• TESOL certification preferred.

Part-time 15-20 hours/week
Annual Salary $30,000
Work remotely. In-person as needed.
Reports to Executive Director.
