Celebrating MCAEL’s 15th Anniversary
As MCAEL celebrates 15 years of English language learning service in Montgomery County, we are pleased to announce the first People, Power and Potential Award. The new award honors leaders in our community who embrace MCAEL’s vision that English language learning provides Montgomery County with the people, the power and the potential to be a compassionate, healthy, happy and culturally diverse community—one where dreams are achieved through the power of communication and collaboration.

Nominations should be submitted no later than 11:59pm on April 22nd, 2022.
What people, power and potential look like at MCAEL:
PEOPLE: The people of MCAEL include all of the learners, instructors, staff, volunteers and business/government supporters involved in MCAEL’s adult English language learning coalition in Montgomery County.
POWER: Our power comes from being a coalition—MCAEL works directly with over 70 providers and the instructor community to support and center the English language learner in Montgomery County, MD. From our professional development and programmatic work, to training and grants management, MCAEL collaborates with partners to help learners meet their goals of increased income levels, better quality of life and active community engagement—also resulting in powerful outcomes for employers, schools and communities.
POTENTIAL: While MCAEL has a rich network of programs providing English language learning to over 11,000 residents, there are still over 100,000 adult learners who would benefit from the opportunity to become competent in communicating in English. Our county has the potential to create a countywide system of English language learning that reaches more people in more places, helping learners, employers and the county reach their full potential.
