Learners can differ in many ways, and to be most effective, teachers will need to adapt their instruction to meet learners’ diverse needs and goals. This adaptation can be achieved through differentiating the content, process, or product of learning. Participants will analyze examples of differentiated activities across the four language domains and brainstorm how they could differentiate common language learning activities in their own classes. Differentiation is particularly beneficial in multilevel classes.

Participants will be able to:

  • Define differentiation.
  • Describe three ways to approach differentiation.
  • Utilize differentiation strategies for teaching listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
