As adult ESOL professionals we engage with learners from a broad range of cultural and personal backgrounds. Being aware of (and not being aware of!) our own cultural lenses and those of the learners in our classes can have a big impact on learners’ sense of safety and belonging, engagement and educational outcomes.
In this interactive workshop, with Victoria McWane-Creek, we will explore the foundational principles of Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRP). We will learn why being culturally responsive matters and examine the core principles of culturally responsive teaching (CRT). You will leave this workshop with a template to plan for ongoing development and implementation of your own Culturally Responsive Teaching practice.
This is a two-part workshop. We will be encouraging participants to practice applying what you learn in this workshop before our part two workshop on March 8th.
