The Adult Literacy Resource Center of the DC Public Library in conjunction with the DC AFLC Best Practices Committee will be having our free Adult Literacy Mini Conference on Friday, September 13th and Saturday, September 14th and generously hosted by the newly renovated Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library (3310 Connecticut Avenue NW).
The conference is open to staff, volunteers, and any interested parties, and again, it is entirely FREE! Folks from DC, Maryland and Virginia are welcome! There is no parking on-site but 2-hour street parking is available on Friday and no limit parking is available on Saturday in the neighborhood. It is about a 5 minute walk from the Cleveland Park Metro Station.
Events will begin at 9:30AM (the library opens at 9:30 AM) on each day with registration and breakfast, followed by a plenary speaker at 9:45AM on Friday morning. There will be morning workshops from 10:45am to 12:45pm, a lunch break from 12:45pm to 1:45pm and afternoon workshops from 1:45pm to 3:45pm. We will be having workshops for adult learners on Friday - we will be offering one morning session and one afternoon session for them. We will not be serving lunch on Friday, but there are 13 restaurants in the area that will be open when we break for lunch.
We should be sending out registration shortly, but we wanted to let you know so that you could get this on your calendar.
